Tout is a Gender-Neutral clothing brand.
According to the World Health Organization aka “ WHO”, gender refers to the characteristics of women, men, girls and boys that are socially constructed.
Gender is hierarchical and produces inequalities that intersect with other social and economic inequalities. Gender-based discrimination intersects with other factors of discrimination, such as ethnicity, socioeconomic status, disability, age, geographic location, gender identity and sexual orientation, among others. This is referred to as intersectionality.
Rigid gender norms also negatively affect people with diverse gender identities, who often face violence, stigma and discrimination as a result, including in healthcare settings.
Beyond shopping for fabulous clothing, there are many ways to face gender inequality, combat transphobia and help those who are in need.
1. Seek gender-affirming therapists for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge negative thoughts or find distress tolerance skills.
2. Connect with other trans/gender-diverse people for community.
3. Use art, music, exercise, or writing for healthy emotional release.
4. Practice kindness to yourself and focus on your strengths, not just your body.
5. Find ways to manage dysphoria (e.g., binding, makeup) and affirm your gender identity.
6. Experiment with names, pronouns (they/them, he/him, she/her) that feel right for you.
7. Learn more and more everyday about gender identity from reputable sources (like PFLAG).
8. Speak up against transphobia and bullying.
9. Share books, shows, and events featuring trans characters.
10. Be open to gender-affirming medical treatments if the person chooses them.
11. Behavioral Health Therapy Helps with stress from discrimination (gender minority stress) and planning for sharing your identity.
12. Medical interventions can align your body with your gender identity.
